The holiday season is here and that likely means that you and your family could be in the process of acquiring some cool new gifts. Here is a list of items that can sometimes need extra attention when it comes to any property policy with any insurance carrier:
1. Your Electronics
Our homes these days have more TVs than they do people living in them and that doesn’t even include the rest of your home’s electronics. A typical property policy these days doesn’t even come close to covering everything in the event of a total loss. This is a common situation that needs to be looked at.
2. Your Jewelry
High-value jewelry needs attention and policy additions such as a floater or even scheduling things such as wedding rings. Without scheduling that diamond, in case that you lose it, you are not going to be covered and protected at all.
3. Your Guns
If you have a gun or two, you are probably fine, but if you are a bit of a collector, then you’ll want to add additional coverage.
4. Your Furs
While not so politically correct these days, if you own expensive furs, you may still want to evaluate them and talk to us to see if you need to add coverage. If you have faux furs, then you don’t have to worry about this.
5. Your Artwork & Antiques
In the case that you have an original Renoir or even a Rembrandt, then you can and must get more insurance protection. Your basic homeowner policies really don’t even come close to offering enough coverage for items such as this.
6. Your Coins & Cash
This includes the cash in your wallet, tickets to events as well as coins. Think about what you have and chances are, that the $200 amount of coverage that comes with most property policies may not be enough.
Hopefully, you now can see that you may need to sit down and talk about your property policy. These are just a few examples. Do you need help with this? Contact us!
